We reduce animal cruelty by raising public awareness of shelter animals to increase adoptions, saving so many animals that would have been destroyed.
Through our extensive rescue efforts, we shed light on inhumane puppy mills, advocating adoption as the responsible alternative to exploitative pet stores and irresponsible breeders.
Our education programs promote kindness, respect, and empathy for all animals, and teach the next generation that a shelter pet is the right choice.
SPAY/USA, the nation’s largest, low-cost spay & neuter referral service, is another proactive Animal League initiative that significantly reduces animal cruelty by addressing overpopulation—avoiding unwanted births and resulting destruction.
The Animal League has saved 1,000,000 lives. As the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization, we understand that a rescue isn’t complete until each animal is placed into a loving home. Our innovative programs provide education to reduce animal cruelty, and advance standards in animal welfare.
