A Revolutionary, National Humane Education Initiative
We’re passionate about teaching the next generation to be more kind and compassionate, to respect themselves, other people and, of course, love animals.
Helping the next generation understand that shelter adoption is the right choice creates a more compassionate and sustainable world for all animals - and that’s at the heart of our Vision.
Our revolutionary Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum helps kids develop strong social and emotional skills — making them more resilient, more capable and more compassionate. This curriculum, developed in collaboration with Yale University’s School of the 21st Century (an innovative community-based education model) and our development arm, The Pet Savers Foundation, is graciously funded by the Millan Foundation.
The curriculum is available for children in Pre-K through 12th Grade.
Linking Schools with 2,000+ Shelter and Rescue Group Partners
The Mutt-i-grees Curriculum will also link 1,300+ schools and millions of children and parents with shelter and rescue groups in their local communities. This link provides an opportunity for shelters to bring animals into the classroom and creates local fundraising efforts to help our shelter and rescue group partners raise additional proceeds.
NY Metro Humane Education Efforts
The Animal League also travels extensively, throughout the tri-state area offering traditional Humane Education to elementary and middle school-aged children. We offer educational tours of our adoption facility so students can see first-hand our hands-on work that saves so many animals each year.
The Animal League provides these services at no cost to schools and youth groups. Your donations help sustain our Humane Education efforts and support the League’s mission to Rescue, Nurture, and Adopt so many pets into permanent homes.
Initial development of The Mutt-i-grees Curriculum was graciously funded by the Millan Foundation.
