Volunteer at North Shore Animal League America
Volunteers Save Lives!
The Animal League could not perform all of the hands-on work that we do without the help of an incredible team of dedicated volunteers.
If you're an animal lover, and can volunteer at least four hours a week for a year, we really want to hear from you.
All Types of Volunteer Positions
From bottle-feeding motherless kittens to answering phones and offering foster care to our special needs animals, all of our volunteers improve the quality of life for the tens of thousands of pets sheltered at the Animal League each year.
What It Takes to Become a Volunteer
In addition to possessing an abundant love for all animals, volunteers must be able to volunteer at least four hours per week for a full year, attend training classes, and fully support all of the Animal League's policies and philosophies.
Get Started Today
All it takes to get started is an application, an interview, some basic orientation classes, and the ability to make a weekly commitment of at least four hours. The Animal League invites everyone, 16 years or older, to join our volunteer team.
How to Apply
Simply complete an online application or pick up a Volunteer Application at our Port Washington shelter, Human Resources Department, at 16 Lewyt Street, Port Washington, NY.
