Little Bean

Dear Friend and Sponsor,  It is with great sympathy that we relay this latest news about our tiny Sponsor kitty, Bean. When a loved one passes, it is often very difficult to make sense of it all. We are left to grieve in their absence, and sometimes we feel compelled to ponder if we could have prevented their untimely passing in any way or what we could have done better. Bean joined the Animal League’s Sponsor Program in 2008. Sweet little Bean was a tiny domestic shorthair cat who weighed only 1 3/4 lbs. She was 8 months old when she came to North Shore Animal League America with her littermate, Jelly. Jelly was a full-sized kitten and did not have any medical conditions, so she was able to be placed for adoption right away. Bean, on the other hand, needed special care. Bean’s growth had been stunted, though we were unsure as to exactly why. In addition to being teeny, Bean had elevated liver valves. She required regular monitoring and regular examinations to further research her condition. Bean was medicated and on a special diet to get her weight up, and to aid in liver function. Sadly, in her last weeks, Bean’s condition worsened. Bean was not acting like herself and started showing signs of neurological disorder. She was more wobbly than usual and began having problems navigating her food bowl. While her appetite was ravenous, Bean was not able to eat enough to maintain her weight. Her health declined rapidly. Bean passed away before her first birthday. Our heart goes out to her wonderful foster mother and to all of her caring sponsors. Though Bean’s days were few, they were full – full of love and full of life. Sincerely,The Sponsor Team

I’m so very sorry to hear of “little Bean’s” passing. As the last poster has mentioned; “Thank you, for making little Bean’s short life a love filled, enjoyable one”.

Take much comfort in the fact, that she is still very much alive, and in God’s kingdom, where she’ll never be sick again.

You “WILL” see her again, someday.

    My sincereist sympathies to you.

Upon reading the news of “Little Bean’s” passing I am totally devastated. Being a sponsor of her for the last 5 months, I was always hoping and praying that she would slowly but surely stage a recovery. We all know that she is now in a better place accompanied by all of the other gone but never forgotten cats and kittens. Boy, this is really hard for me to get over.

I was so devastated to hear that Little Bean is no longer with us. She was the cutest little cat ever. I recently lost my beloved cat, Emme, after 18 years and my friend sponsored Bean for me as a birthday gift. It was the greatest gift for both Little Bean and for me. I’m so thankful that she had some TLC and loving folks to sponsor her care. I think now she is heaven with Emme and my other cat, Elle.

I was so saddened yesterday when I got the news that Little Bean had died. She was one of my sponsor cats. Bless all of those who cared for her and and loved her during her all-too-short life. Say hello to my Toby, Muffin, Callie and Reefer, sweetheart. Rest in peace.

Thanks for giving Little Bean a chance. I’m sure you tried everything, I see that she was even to go to Cornell for care. I don’t know why these things happen to the sweetest and cutest of beings, but at least we had her for a little while, and treated her well while she was with us. Thanks for trying so hard.
