Nina

Unfortunately, after Nina’s recent check-up, her foster mom noticed that Nina’s eye seemed irritated and red. She quickly brought Nina back to the Animal League. Nina was prescribed medication for what was thought to be an infection, however, after her eye showed no improvement, she was brought back for another check-up. It was determined that Nina had an ulcer on her eye. Ultimately, it was decided that it was best to remove Nina’s eye to help alleviate the pressure and discomfort she was experiencing. Fortunately, she hasn’t let this recent discomfort affect her appetite or friendly attitude. The good news is that Nina had her eye removed and the surgery went well. The next day Nina’s family said that right away she was doing well. We hope for a happy and healthy recovery for our precious Nina!

    Hi,

Nina had a little rough time this Fall. We concurred the pneumonia and with that we found that Nina had cancer (lymphoma). She has been going for chemo treatments since October 2008. We just found out in December that she is in complete remission. We are so excited for her. Nina is a real trooper. She will not let anything let her down. Her appitite is great ( even though she only weighs 32-34 pounds) she is doing great her Doctor says. She still receives chemo once a week and handles is wonderfully ( it’s a 24 weeks program ). I think the love from all the Doctors who care for her really makes a difference. Once thing I have noticed since she cannot see @ all is her beautiful ears, they are constanly is the up position so she can hear everything. I loved her ears from the 1st time I saw her they are so expressive. We are very thankful that we have such a loving dog in our household, she brings such joy & we know 2009 will be a great one. Thanks for your support!.
    Love the Echevarrio’s

Nina is almost done with her chemo, about 4 more sessions, and they say she is in complete remission. She was back @ North Shore with a little ear infection but shes much better now. We’ve increased her insulin to 12cc because the 10 wasn’t enough. Nina is a wonderful example of how bad things come your way and you just keep pushing foward with a smile on her face and her loving ways. We are amazed at how well she is doing. Thanks for your support it means alot to us.

Nina went to the Oncologist and confirmed yes she has cancer. She had an infection and thats why her breathing was bad. They gave her a shot of something and overnight she was better. She’s eating like a little piglet and drinking lots of water. She looks better already. She is going back to the Dr. on Tuesday and if her infection is cleared up they will start chemo again to kick her back into remission.

    Things look good!
