Sixpence
These days, Sixpence keeps himself entertained by watching the squirrels gather up acorns and chestnuts for the winter and by watching the migrating birds landing on the lawn and in the trees. “6P” likes the holidays because he gets more snacks and a lot of extra fussing. His foster mom has to be vigilant about what he eats in order to keep him healthy during treat-filled holiday time. She also has to be careful to make sure that he doesn’t get overexcited, which might result in a seizure. “6P” twisted his front foot and gave his mom a big scare – he’s so fragile that she really worries if any little thing seems wrong with him, but he’s ok now. Sixpence is such a good boy – he leads a simple life, but he doesn’t know it – he’s always ready for a kiss on the nose and a pat and a scratch behind the ears. We look forward to a very happy and healthy New Year for Sixpence and all of our beloved special-needs sponsor program pets!

I am so happy Sixpence is feeling good these days. I have been sponsoring Sixpence for 5 years now. Hope to for years to come. I hope Sixpence had a great Christmas and santa was good to him. He is such a beautiful dog. Thank you Foster mom for taking such great care of Sixpence. I enjoy getting the updates in the mail about Sixpence. I love animals so much. I am another sponsor of Sixpence & so grateful for all that his “mom” does for him. Also special thanks to both Jennifer & Dianne (listed above) for being a part of my family because of our wonderful little friend Sixpence. His picture is right in my living room next to the previous dog I sponsored & unfortunately lost. It has been a real pleasure to be able to help North Shore all these years. Happy New Year to all.

I am honored to be 6p’s Foster Mom. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of you sponsors who make his little life possible. He has had a lot of obstacles to overcome, as you know, but he is such a game little guy, always ready for a smooch or a treat. He never complains…but dogs don’t, do they? Anyhow, 6p and I love you all, we owe it all to you who help us so much. You are in our thoughts constantly (well, my thoughts anyhow ), and we know that you Sponsor Parents are THE BEST! I will miss Benji, but I have enjoyed reading about 6p and his antics! I am glad that I can continue to sponsor another dog like 6p…he sounds like he has a very adorable personality!

Hi Amy…Welcome! Yes, 6p has a very sweet personality, and is just silly enough to make him fun to live with. His “chats” with Roger the parrot are really funny. Sixpence is a good example of a severely handicapped dog who is living a comfortable and rewarding life, even though to some his days would seem to be a little quiet. Thank you for helping us to help him, and for helping Benji before 6p. We are all so grateful.

I have been sponsoring Benji for a few years and just got the devastating news of his passing and I am now sponsoring sixpence. I just received my sponsorship papers for him and I am so excited to be part of his life. And for the foster mom if you read this please give him a big hug for me and let him know that someone cares a great deal for him and sends her love. xox

I’m one of Sixpence’s “moms” too!! I received the loving gift from my sister Cheryl to be a sponsor for Sixpence, and I have to say, this was the most wonderful and loving gift I’ve ever received. His precious face melts my heart. To Sixpence’s foster mom, please tell him about me, hug him and give him lots of kisses from me and Cheryl! Please let him know how much love is being sent his way.

Hi Angeline and Cheryl! Sixpence and I are glad to have you in the family! Of course I will tell him all about you, and tell him about the love you send him…he loves to be talked to…turns his head and looks just as if he is listening and understanding, (Maybe he is!) We are both so happy to have Sponsor parents joining in Sixpence’ care, we are all family after all – please let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to know, and I will try to answer. I too, sponsor Sixpence… I am glad to hear he is well. It kills me that I can’t do more and that I can’t sponsor all of them. I am happy that Sixpence is in a happy home where his mom pays him special attention!
I’m also glad that I can be apart of a group that helps animals in need. I am an animal lover!

Hi Jennifer…I’m sorry not to have replied to you sooner, I missed your posting. Thank you and your husband for rooting for Sixpence… he needs all the help he can get, and he’s happy to have such a great support group (actually I’m the one glad for the support group, but 6p loves to be told he’s wonderful). Hi Jennifer – It’s very hard to get updated photos of Sixpence. Due to his condition the camera often upsets him and we don’t want to take the risk of him having a seizure as a result of it. Barbara, We have been sponsoring Sixpence for many years now, God Bless you for the love and care that you give him on a daily basis. All you have to do is look in his face and see that it is all worthwhile. We rescue shelties and I know how hard it can be to deal with certain issues that the dogs come with. We have a dog now that came to us so traumatized from being mistreated that I was told that we would never be able to walk him on a leash around the corner. Well it took about 2 years but our “Jett” now gets so excited as soon as I put my sneakers on to go for our two mile walk. We have two rescue dogs at the momment. They truly know they have been rescued by all the unconditional love they give us and I know sixpence knows how much you love him. God Bless. The Arditti Family
