Lately, Jules has been showing signs that he is not interested in grooming himself.  He has been looking bedraggled and getting some matted hair patches in his long coat.  That means his foster family has to take care of the grooming.  They are back to brushing him a few times each week and seeking him out from under the bed for his nightly “rubdowns.”  Jules, of course, protests and tries to dig his claws into the carpet.  When it’s over, Jules continues to complain about it using a peculiar high pitched chirp or kitty “bark” that he emits wandering around the apartment while they sleep.

The grooming saga continues in full force with Jules.  His beautiful, long white coat does require high maintenance.  Luckily, his loving foster family is up to the challenge.  They groom him almost every day so as to avoid those pesky matted hair patches.  We are happy to report that Jules is showing slight improvement in handling the grooming sessions.  Not as much claw digging into the carpet and not as much whimpering afterwards.  In time, I’m sure we’ll be able to prove that with practice, you can teach and old CAT new tricks!

We are happy to report that Jules seems to be feeling well.  His recent shedding seems to be coming to an end and he seems to be getting better at keeping himself groomed.  His foster family is so very proud of him.  Jules is really coming out of his shell and becoming a part of their family.  He seems to trust them more and is showing it by hanging around them more when they are home.  Thanks to the help of Jules’s Sponsors, he is not only receiving all the medical care that he needs, but he is also receiving the love and attention that he craves from a loving foster family.

This past month has been a little bit of a strange one for Jules. It seems like his old tongue can’t keep up with his spring shedding cycle anymore (with that long beautiful white coat of his, it is understandable!). His foster family started brushing him because he was beginning to look a little sloppy. His not grooming himself as well as he used to might be a cause for concern. However, he’s been coming out more and exploring new spaces, including the top of a desk when people were sitting near him and the living room couch when his family is not home. For Jules, these are AMAZING steps forward in progress.
