Celebrity Rescue Rally Set For September 25 As Mutt-i-grees® Mania - A Colossal Pet Adoption Event - Comes To NYC’S Hudson River Park Pier 40

September 15, 2011 (Port Washington, NY) – North Shore Animal League America will have three Mobile Rescue and Adoption Units filled with more than one hundred precious dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens looking for permanent and loving homes as the Celebrity Rescue Rally Pet Adoption Event - Mutt-i-grees® Mania - gets underway on Sunday, September 25 from 12:00Noon – 5:00pm at Hudson River Park Trust, Pier 40 in New York City (353 West St. at W. Houston St.). Animal League spokesperson Beth Stern will be joined by other animal-loving celebrities to raise awareness of pet adoption and the beauty of shelter animals, also known as Mutt-i-grees. Joining the Animal League at Mutt-i-grees Mania will be Sean Casey Animal Rescue, Puppy Love Pet Rescue, In Our Hands Rescue, and Animal Center of Queens. This event is the Grand Finale of the Animal League’s third annual “Get Your Licks on Route 66” Pet Adoption Tour.

Animal-loving celebrities joining Beth Stern include actress and Mutt-i-grees spokesperson Kathryn Erbe, comedian and actress Sandra Bernhard, designer John Bartlett, Tony nominated Broadway actress and singer Orfeh, actor Josh Flitter, model Jen Araki, on-air personality and author Maria Milito, and television host Sara Gore.

By the time it arrives in New York City, the Get Your Licks on Rt. 66 Pet Adoption Tour will have traveled through 17 cities over 3,200 miles, between California and Illinois on historic Rt. 66, to raise awareness of the plight of homeless pets and the vital services that participating animal shelter and rescue partners provide to their communities. The Tour is presented by North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, National Mill Dog Rescue and FIDO Friendly Magazine.
