September 6, 2011 (Port Washington, NY) – More than one hundred precious dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens will be available for adoption as Mutt-i-grees® Mania gets underway on Sunday, September 25 from 12:00 Noon – 5:00pm at Hudson River Park Pier 40, in New York City. North Shore Animal League will have three Mobile Rescue and Adoption Units filled with healthy and wonderful shelter animals, also known as Mutt-i-grees, looking for permanent and loving homes. Animal League spokesperson Beth Stern will be joined by other animal-loving celebrities to raise awareness of pet adoption and the beauty of shelter animals.

This event is the Grand Finale of the “Get Your Licks on Route 66” Pet Adoption Tour. Hosted by the Animal League and Fido Friendly Magazine, and sponsored by Protection1 Security Solutions, Animal Radio®, Mutt-i-grees® Movement, and Adopter’s Advantage, this national pet adoption tour travels the length of Route 66 between California and Illinois to raise awareness of the plight of homeless pets and the vital services that participating animal shelter and rescue partners provide to their communities.
