North Shore Animal League America partnered with local rescue groups in California to save the lives of more than 150 small breed dogs from overcrowded municipal shelters.

These lucky pooches were flown in from across the country by Wings of Rescue, an all-volunteer organization that specializes in flying shelter animals to safety, to SheltAir Farmingdale Airport early Tuesday morning. Of the 150 dogs rescued, 100 of them were loaded onto two of Animal League America’s Mobile Rescue Units and transported to the safe surroundings of our Port Washington, NY facility. The other 50+ pooches fortunate enough to take the life-saving, cross-country flight were placed in the caring hands of two well-known and highly respected local rescue organizations – Sean Casey Animal Rescue and Social Tees Animal Rescue.

Once our newly-minted shelter pets are unloaded at the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, the dogs will be examined by our veterinarians, cleaned and pampered by our top-notch grooming team, and eventually placed up for adoption as official Animal League America Mutt-i-grees®!

Be sure to stay tuned to our website and social media outlets to find out when these four-legged friends will be ready to find a loving, responsible home!

Animal League America stays true to its mission by continuously taking animals out of harm's way, and giving them a second chance for the happy life they deserve.

You can help us save even more animals’ lives when you donate to the Rescue Fund.
