Capital Campaigns

Saving an average of 20,000 lives each year over the past decade and – close to 1,000,000 lives to date – requires continuous upgrades to our facilities and new shelter supplies and medical equipment.

The Capital Campaign Program gives supporters a unique way to match their passion for animals with their own level of philanthropic giving.

Since we receive no government funding, we rely on private contributions to sustain our facilities and continue our life-saving programs. Here are some important ways you can help make a difference:

Keep our Mobile Adoptions & Rescues Rolling

Did you know that our Mobile Adoption Program saves thousands of animals each year? Our Mobile Adoption Units are constantly on the road, and like any vehicle, they need continuous maintenance, and ultimately they need to be replaced. A new Mobile Adoption Unit, filled with the necessary rescue equipment, costs up to $250,000.

Our Mobile Adoption & Rescue Units help us:

Conduct more than 650 Mobile Adoption Events annually, helping our shelter and rescue group partners save more animals too.
Continue Humane Relocations, rescuing thousands of animals from areas where they face destruction.
Rescue pets from National Emergencies. Our Mobile Adoption units helped save over 1,300 pets during Hurricane Katrina and have continued to rescue animals from that region ever since. More recently, our Mobile Adoption units pulled animals out of harm’s way after hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Reduce Animal Cruelty and Euthanasia. Mobile Adoption events provide strong competition to puppy stores that typically sell puppy mill dogs. When someone is ready to obtain a pet, making an adoptable cat or dog available to them on a mobile unit, at a convenient place and time, encourages a shelter dog or cat adoption in lieu of a pet store/puppy mill dog purchase.

As the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization, we understand that a rescue isn’t complete until each animal is placed into a loving home. Our innovative programs provide education to reduce animal cruelty, and advance standards in animal welfare. Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly in the pursuit of our vision of a world where all companion animals find permanent homes to end euthanasia.
