As Hurricane Ernesto was making its way to Puerto Rico, we acted swiftly to assist our long-time rescue partners, Proud Rescuers of Puerto Rico and Save a Gato. After the tropical storm hit the island, our Rescue Team continued their efforts to help in any way possible to get more animals out of harm’s way.

Our pets show their unconditional love every day. It’s in their nature to meet us with a wagging tail or an affectionate head bump, often while hiding chronic pain and discomfort. September is Animal Pain Awareness Month; a time to call attention to the signs that our pets may be silently suffering.

2008: The Mutt-i-Grees® Curriculum is Introduced

Our Pet Savers Foundation partners with Yale University School of the 21st Century and the Cesar Millan Foundation to launch the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum, a groundbreaking PreK-Grade 12 program that links humane education with social and emotional learning. Two years later, a dog named Jeter is adopted from North Shore Animal League America and becomes the Curriculum’s first School Dog in California. Since then, the program has flourished in more than 2,000 schools, animal shelters, and after school programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
