We are currently seeking a Human Resources Coordinator/Generalist to assist with the administration and coordination of North Shore Animal League America’s benefits, training and development, performance management, and occupational health and safety. They will work collaboratively with the HR team and external vendors to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Daily administration of workers compensation.
- Manage employee inquiries, benefit enrollments, benefit changes, and terminations of participants in all health and welfare plans and programs.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of benefit administration experience, with strong knowledge of HR benefits including Worker’s Compensation, short-term disability, COBRA, Family Medical Leave Act and Paid Family Leave.
- Responsible for the onboarding process of all new hires with the ability to conduct a comprehensive new hire orientation.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, etc.
- Responsible for the management of the 45-day and 90-day evaluation process for hourly employees.
- Coordinate seminars and workshops based on each department’s needs. Track training effectiveness, gather feedback and report on performance and participation.
- Assist the Human Resources Manager with recruiting efforts as needed.
- Review and process employee time-off requests
Requirements:
- Two years of Benefit Administration experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of experience and education.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exhibit sensitivity in handling employee issues.
- Required to be well versed in the benefit plans that NSALA offers.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft applications with the ability to learn new computer and technical skills is required.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources and employment law.
- Must be meticulous about details and possess excellent organizational skills.
- Strong ability to multitask, manage deadlines and adjust priorities.
- Must have the ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Work Location: Port Washington, NY/Hybrid remote work schedule after 3 months
