North Shore Animal League America is currently seeking a full-time Veterinarian to join our 17 doctor, AAHA accredited facility. This position is a senior veterinarian position overseeing the health and medical needs of the feline population in our new feline rescue and adoption facility. Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center is slated to open and be fully functional by Fall 2019. At full capacity this facility will house up to 200 felines at any time – most in cage free communal rooms. The facility will have dedicated examination rooms, medical treatment wards, as well as a feline surgical suite. More advanced medical and surgical needs can be managed in the AAHA accredited Medical Center. Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Provide consistent and high quality patient care
    • Perform thorough physical exams
    • Make appropriate recommendations for preventative care
    • Ordering and interpretation of appropriate diagnostics
    • Ensure medical records are complete and accurate
    • Develop thorough and appropriate treatment plans (for inpatient or outpatient care)
    • Maintain and modify the feline health protocols as needed
  • Provide consistent and high quality patient care
    • Educate adopters on all aspects of feline veterinary care
    • Respond to callbacks and client inquiries in a timely manner
    • Follow up on patients when warranted
  • Surgical Service
    • Able to perform routine feline spay-neuter in an efficient manner
    • Must be able to perform 15-20 S/N surgeries in a shift
    • Should be proficient in other routine procedures
  • Be an active team player
    • Work cooperatively with colleagues when needed
    • Elevate problems/concerns to Chief of Veterinary Staff when appropriate
    • Communicate with feline foster parents and manage the medical needs of felines in the Foster Care Program

Requirements:

  • Experience preferred
  • Interest in feline shelter medicine required
  • DABVP in feline medicine or shelter medicine preferred
  • Compensation commensurate with experience

  • $1200/year CE allowance and Reimbursement for AVMA Dues, NYS License and DEA License
