The mission of our North Country Initiative to RESCUE NURTURE ADOPT EDUCATE is being accomplished through the operation of a no-kill rescue and adoption center and the implementation of a series of programs to assist with the needs of homeless felines and feral cat colonies in the region.  These programs include a focus on spay and neuter to reduce cat overpopulation and the suffering that coincides.

We are seeking a part time Adoption Care Associate to provide the day to day care of the Adoption Center animals to ensure their general health and well-being.

The position is part time 24 hours per week .

Required work days are Wednesdays 3:00pm – 8:00pm, Thursdays 8:00am -1:00pm , Fridays 3:00pm – 8:00pm, Saturdays 4:00pm – 8:00pm & Sundays 8:00am – 1:00pm.

Some holidays are required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect animal cages, habitats, living spaces, food dishes and litter pans.
  • Feed animals the appropriate type and amount of food according to their written instructions.
  • Ensure that animals have fresh water at all times.
  • Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent reporting any signs of concern directly to a member of the medical staff, Adoption Center Manager or Director.
  • Complete notes on Daily Observation Sheet.
  • Be familiar with all felines including habits, behavior, and medical conditions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the facility including utility rooms and bathrooms. Cleaning duties included but are not limited to sweep/vacuuming and mopping of floors, scrub and disinfect walls and floors, daily laundry.
  • Complete daily checklists as required.
  • Restock food and other supplies as needed. When items are low, notify appropriate staff.
  • Be sure animal records/cage and habitat forms are accurate and readily available.

Requirements:

  • Positive and friendly attitude
  • Previous experience working hands-on with animals in a shelter environment or veterinary facility a+
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Willingness to maintain the sanitation of animal areas.
  • Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of animals.
