North Shore Animal League America is currently seeking a full time Volunteer Coordinator to provide a full range of administrative and office support to the NSALA Volunteer Program. Qualified candidates must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Computer literate (knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel necessary; knowledge of PowerPoint and databases like Filemaker Pro a plus).

Duties and Responsibilities:

     Volunteer Recruitment:

  • Respond to telephone calls, e-mails, walk-ins and mail regarding volunteering at NSALA
  • Attend conferences/fairs to recruit new volunteers (if needed)
  • Assist with Volunteer Open Houses (update dates on the website; coordinate set up with HR; interview new volunteers; make a spreadsheet with results; call new volunteers with training dates,  process new time clock codes, take ID photos, generate badges, collect registration fees and coordinate production of training materials
  • Send e-mail blasts to recruit/coordinate volunteers for extra assistance for Special Events (Adopt-a-thon, mill dog and hurricane rescues)

     Administration for Volunteer Program:

  • Input/create records for new volunteers in Filemaker Pro and Time Force program and keep information up to date (address changes, shift changes, manager changes, add volunteer photos to Time Force records, etc.)
  • Maintain and update volunteer hard-copy files (attendance, training forms, commendations, accident reports, etc.)
  • Assists with generating and updating various important /staffing sheets, spreadsheets/grids/and reports
  • Keep postings up to date on Volunteer Bulletin Board regarding trainings, new volunteer positions, policy changes for shelter, etc.

     Retention of Volunteers:

Requirements:

  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Word/ Excel and databases such as Filemaker Pro is necessary; knowledge of PowerPoint, Photoshop and time clock programs, such as Time Force, a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with a very varied group of volunteers and employees
  • Full time 40 hours 5 days per week. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and one weekend day
