Adoption Success Stories

North Shore Animal League America often receives stories and tales from people across the country on the joys of adopting a pet. Below, you will find just some of the stories we receive. If you would like to share your story with the Animal League to publish in a newsletter or online, please email us your story as well as a photo of your Happy Tail.

Dear Friends at North Shore Animal League America,

Hello, it's me...Gracie! My humans adopted me in May 2009 at your wonderful Pet Adoptathon. I figured you were worrying about me, so I wanted to let you know that I am doing great in my new home! I just celebrated my first birthday and received many toys. I even got to eat some Frosty Paw peanut butter ice cream. It was delicious!

Some of my favorite things to do are play with my friends at the dog park, run on the beach and splash in the waves, and I especially love doing agility such as jumping through hoops. My human Tricia and I enjoy throwing the Frisbee around as well as playing hide and seek…I find her every time!

I am looking forward to many great years with my family and wanted to thank you again for taking care of me until my adoption.

Love your pal,

Gracie Gallerani

Dear Friends,

I always love reading all the happy tails from excited adopters on the Animal League web site. Their stories of love and joy always make me smile. I’m so thrilled to be writing a happy tail of my own!

You may have heard that just recently, I fostered an adorable, special-needs cat. Her name is Apple and she’s the sweetest. She was dealing with a few medical issues and needed a place to recover in comfort, and I was more than happy to give that to her. This little sweetheart meowed her way into all of our hearts – mine, Howard’s and Bianca’s too! On the second day, I couldn’t imagine our family without her. We bonded instantly and since then, she’s found a permanent spot on my lap.

In January, 2010, I adopted Apple and made her the newest addition to the Stern family. Apple is warm, affectionate and really seems to appreciate all that we do for her. She finds the most comfortable places in our home to take her cat naps with her favorite turtle toy; and thanks to this fun and informative article,
“Do You Speak Cat? You Can!” I’m learning to read her body language. She’s totally enriched our lives.

The Animal League’s Foster Care Program gives pets in need an amazing opportunity to recover from an illness or condition in the comfort of a loving home.

There are so many pets waiting to be fostered and adopted. I strongly suggest that you visit your local shelter and open your heart and home to a pet. Whether you foster or adopt, you’ll feel amazing knowing that you’re helping to save lives.

If you can’t foster or adopt a pet at this time, don’t worry. You can still help countless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens with a generous donation. You’ll be sending your love to all the Apples out there who are just waiting to find a loving home.

I’m so thankful to North Shore Animal League America and all their passionate supporters. So many pets rely on your kindness, and because of that, our home has never felt more complete. Please help a pet today.

xoxo,

Beth Stern
