We are the world's largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization.

Besides being the month of love, hearts, and roses, February is also Responsible Pet Owners Month. And although it’s the shortest month of the year — even in a leap year —it’s full of reminders about how best to care for our animal companions. The most important of all these reminders is about spay/neuter because you cannot be a responsible pet person without supporting spay/neuter.
Proper dental hygiene is vital to the health and wellness of your pet. February is Pet Dental Health Month and the perfect time to make sure your pets' pearly whites are getting everything they need to last a lifetime.
World Spay Day is February 27. First started in 1995, World Spay Day calls attention to the problem of homeless pets across the country, and promotes spay/neuter as a way to prevent pet overpopulation as well as save animals’ lives.
Our Pet Health Centers team jumped into action recently with the arrival of Kira, a 9-month-old English Bulldog mix who was surrendered to us in significant distress. Not only was Kira in heat, but she had a prolapse of her rectum and a possible hernia that was so painful, she had to be sedated to allow our veterinary staff to examine her.
When it comes to extreme conditions - be it cold, rain, snow or storms - it’s always best to be prepared. Here are a few important things to remember that will keep your beloved pet safe and warm this season.
Winter is a difficult time of the year for Community Cats; it’s cold, food and water are scarce, and a warm, dry place to rest their weary bones can be hard to find. Providing some sort of comfort for these cats — whether it be a bowl of food, a feral house to call their own or a fresh bowl of water — will go a long way to make their life so much easier.
