Helping Other Shelters

The Animal League has enjoyed a long history of collaborating with other shelter and rescue groups across the United States.

Cooperative Mobile Adoption Program

Our Mobile Adoption Program helps save thousands of animals annually, and enables us to partner with many shelter and rescue groups to save animals from their shelters, too. Using our fleet of Mobile Adoption Units, we host adoption events at high-traffic locations to raise visibility of our shelter and rescue partners and increase adoptions. These adoption events also generate much-needed proceeds that benefit our shelter and rescue partners. Read more

Cooperative Buying Program

Through our development arm, The PetSavers Foundation, we offer a Cooperative Buying Program that helps shelter and rescue groups across the U.S. reduce their costs on important equipment and supplies that help them save more lives.

Cooperative Mobile Adoption Tours

The Animal League launched the first national Mobile Adoption Tour, The Tour for Life, in 2001 to help raise awareness of shelter animals across the nation and to encourage shelter adoptions.  The tour featured two of our Mobile Adoption Units that stopped at our shelter and rescue partners to bring their dogs, puppies, cats and kittens out of the shelter and into high-traffic areas for wonderful pet adoption events. Building on that success…in 2008, the Animal League launched another annual tour, Get Your Licks on Route 66, and in 2009, collaborated on the Tour for Heroes.

Premiere Global Adoption Event 

To place global focus on the plight of shelter animals, North Shore Animal League America launched Pet Adoptathon®—an adoption event that keeps shelters open for up to 36 hours straight.  The concept caught the attention of shelter and rescue groups across the U.S., and beyond, to become the world’s Premiere Global Pet Adoption event. Read more about this important global event

Mutt-i-grees®

The Mutt-i-grees^® Movement elevates the status of shelter animals and promotes adoptions across the U.S. The added visibility of advertising and PR helps other shelter and rescue groups, too. Mutt-i-grees^® also offers comprehensive member benefits to Mutt-i-grees^® shelters, including added visibility, adoption events and tours, the Cooperative Buying Program, community and school linkage, and so many more opportunities.
