Infant Kitten Volunteer

Department: Medical Center

Hours: Flexible

Requirements:

We need volunteers that are willing and able to take care of kittens without mothers. So many times we receive kittens that are in need of foster homes due to the fact they have no mother. These kittens are very delicate and need to be bottle fed every 2 to 3 hours throughout the day. Without dedicated foster parents these kittens have very little chance of survival and need someone that will care for them around the clock.

Feeding schedule is every 2 to 3 hours.

Kittens have to then be stimulated to go to the bathroom. This is something that the mother would do for them but in her absence needs someone caring for them to do it for them.

Formula, bottles, nipples and other supplies will be provided for by the medical center. Training will also be provided as to the proper procedure for the feeding and caring of these precious little ones.

If the kittens become sick or have any medical issues you may bring them in to be examined. Since they are League animals they would be examined obviously at no charge to the foster parent. Please call Susan Infield the Foster Care manager at 516-883-7900, x352 or call the number below. In an emergency the medical center is open from 9am to 9 pm daily.

Vaccination schedule:
6 weeks of age after an exam from a vet.

At 8 weeks of age the kittens can come back to the League for adoption unless the vet states otherwise.
