Port Washington, NY at North Shore Animal League AmericaPosted by on March 5, 2010
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for our final event on the Purina ONE® Tour For Heroes. The last stop has brought us to Port Washington, New York with North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. The community welcomed us with open arms and great appreciation. In addition to the wide variety of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens for adoption, we also had families excited about the Tour and looking to provide permanent, loving homes to the precious pets on the Tour mobile unit.
Out of all of the wonderful pets on board the Tour mobile unit, there was one cat in particular, a 2-year-old white tabby named Penny that caught everyone’s attention. She was a recent rescue brought to North Shore Animal League America, and she played and purred as she sat on the Tour mobile unit awaiting a loving family to call her own. I’m hoping that Penny found a home, as families inquired about her throughout the day during the event.
I am so happy to be here at the Animal League but I have to admit, I’m also a little sad because I know this is the last stop on the Tour. This has been a warm and uplifting experience from beginning to end. From all of the communities that have welcomed the Tour to the pet parents that are our HEROES for helping to make a difference in the lives of their pets everyday, I feel truly grateful. The Purina ONE Tour For Heroes may be over, but all of the wonderful people, pets and stories from this experience will be with me forever.
