Letters from Katrina: North Shore "Angels"
We recently received the following email from a volunteer that our Emergency Response Team met in Birmingham, Alabama. We certainly appreciate her kind words:
I arrived at my home at 2:00 am this morning after engaging in one of the most rewarding experiences of my life as an animal rescuer. I have God in Heaven and North Shore on earth to thank for last night. You people are phenomenal!
I traveled 2 hours one way to Greater Birmingham Humane Society to donate food and newspapers and a helping hand to the animals arriving from MS. I've transported animals all over the southern U.S. and have seen animals moved in a wide variety of ways but nothing prepared me for the sight of your mobile unit rounding the side of that building last night.
There simply aren't words to express my gratitude to you for coming down here and doing what you've done.
You may be funded to do just that, but it takes special people to answer the call that you answered this weekend.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for the transportation, the medical treatment, the funding it took to do this, for taking animals back north to make room for all the poor babies who have been lost and left homeless, for the caring hands, for the kind hearts, for cleaning the messes, for enduring the smells on a 5 hour trip, for your patience with us the volunteers who all just want to help in some small way, and most of all, for the love you are showing these babies.
You people have restored my faith in the goodness of our society.
