A Night for Rescue to Shine Bright

On June 12, North Shore Animal League America gathered its passionate community of supporters together for our annual Celebration of Rescue gala, held at the Tribeca Rooftop.

Hosted by ABC News Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, the night’s program honored the people and partners who make our lifesaving work possible. Tributes showcasing some of the past year’s rescue missions included the story of Seamus, a dog rescued from the brink of starvation in New York City. Now healthy, happy and thriving in a loving home, Seamus made a surprise appearance with his adopters, drawing smiles and tears from the entire room.

The evening also recognized two standout honorees with Crystal Collar Awards®: Teri Ahearn, principal of Shell Bank Middle School in Brooklyn, for her leadership in bringing the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum into classrooms; and Swiffer®, for their ongoing commitment to animal welfare. The gala concluded with a high-energy performance by Hank Azaria and The EZ Street Band, whose Springsteen-inspired set had the entire rooftop on their feet. It was a true celebration of rescue, of community, and of the joy that animals bring into our lives.

We were thrilled to welcome many familiar faces to our blue carpet this year, including Beth and Howard Stern, Rachael Ray and John Cusimano, Ali Wentworth, Liz Gillies, Ben Aaron, Will Ganss, Matt Friend, Seth Herzog, Hazel Sanchez, Robyn Schall, Brian Balthazar, Marc Bouwer, and more — each helping us shine a light on animals still waiting for a second chance.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and sponsors, Celebration of Rescue raised vital funds to fuel our Rescue, Nurture, Adopt and Educate programs. Every animal we save is a reflection of their compassion, and we’re endlessly grateful for the support.
