You’re With Them Every Step of the Way – When an animal’s life is at risk, you’re there with us. You help us rescue them from danger, nurture them back to health and find them a loving home. In 2024, your generosity fueled every part of our no-kill mission, from saving lives to building a more humane future.
RESCUE
Answering the Call for Help

As a pioneer of humane relocation, NSALA has saved nearly 160,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens since 1991, when our out-of-state program began. Using our well-equipped, climate-controlled Mobile Rescue Units, we transport pets from overcrowded municipal shelters – where they would be destroyed – to Animal League America. Our Mobile Units, Rescue Teams, and shelter partners save animals from overcrowded shelters, puppy mills, natural disasters and other emergencies.
NURTURE
Providing Hope and Healing

At our AAHA-accredited Pet Health Centers, we deliver expert medical treatment, rehabilitation and compassionate care to every animal. Our Freed Special Recovery Center treated 1,251 animals suffering from extremely dangerous conditions, totaling 17,079 days of hospitalization.
ADOPT
Creating New Families

We are a world leader in setting best practices for adoption. In 2024, we facilitated tens of thousands of adoptions working with our network over 2,000 shelter partners. Our Adoption Center ensures every placement is thoughtful and lasting.
EDUCATE
Fostering Empathy for a No-Kill World

Approximately 5,000 schools, libraries, after-school programs, homes, and communities are now helping build resilience and compassion in the next generation. The Curriculum’s goals include promoting awareness of the desirability of shelter animals, referred to as Mutt-i-grees, and enhancing children’s resilience and social emotional competence.
Every rescue, every recovery, every homecoming, and every child inspired to protect animals, begins with you. Thank you for being with them every step of the way, and for standing with us in our no-kill mission.

Eighty-one cents of every dollar spent goes directly to helping homeless animals.
