First-Ever Virtual Celebration of Rescue Highlights Animal League America’s Lifesaving Work and Raises Important Funds

On November 19, 2020, North Shore Animal League America held it’s first-ever Virtual Celebration of Rescue which raised nearly $300,000 to continue our critical work on behalf of homeless animals. The celebration showcased compelling rescues, inspiring stories of animals overcoming adversity, the dedication of our frontline workers in our Adoption Centers who remained ‘boots on the ground,’ throughout this very difficult year. The evening also included celebrity guest appearances, an auction that offered a unique range of items including one-of-a-kind virtual celebrity experiences, entertainment by International singer-songwriter Joshua Radin, and a lifesaving pledge drive.

The evening kicked off with an exclusive VIP Party where guests mingled at virtual tables while checking out the items for auction and enjoying surprise pop-ins by adorable puppies and kittens.

Our Virtual Celebration of Rescue was hosted by longtime supporters Brian Balthazar (TV Personality, Comedian, and President, Balthazar Entertainment) and Dan Mannarino (Anchor, PIX11 Morning News).  Will Ganss from ABC’s World News Now was on hand with his dog, Archie, rescued from Animal League America, to make the night’s specialty cocktail, Tito’s Rescue Fizz. Some of the other celebrities we heard from throughout the evening included Rachael Ray and John Cusimano (The Rachael Ray Show, adopters), Jeff McNeil (NY Mets all-star, adopter) and Tatiana McNeil (Virtual Walk & Wag Ambassador, adopter), Joe Gatto (Global star of Impractical Jokers and The Misery Index, adopter), Edie Falco (American television/stage actress, adopter), Selenis Leyva (actress, Orange is the New Black, adopter), and Lisa Lampanelli (storyteller, former comedian, and adopter).

An enjoyable evening was had by all while watching the program from the comfort of their living rooms!
