Meet Shakespeare

At about 2 months old, Shakespeare arrived at North Shore Animal League America via a rescue transport from Tennessee. From the start, he was under medical supervision at our Pet Health Centers due to chronic pneumonia.

This severe condition led to fibrotic changes in Shakespeare’s lungs, so now he requires the use of an inhaler for life. His fibrosis also means his physical activity must be restricted. The Pet Sponsorship Program ensures that the expense of his medical treatment won’t be an obstacle in Shakespeare having the best quality of life in a loving, responsible home. July 2025

Shakespeare is thriving! A recent vet visit allowed him to reduce his inhaler use, and now he spends even more time doing his favorite things: chewing on sweatpants, sunbathing on the turf, and cozying up on the bed. “He even waits patiently in his crate for treats,” shared dad Mark. One day, Mark hopes to capture his handsome boy in a photo studio session!

March 2025

Shakespeare found his perfect match in dad Minsoo. “I believe Shakespeare chose me,” Minsoo said. Since joining the family, Shakespeare has adjusted beautifully, claiming cozy spots throughout the house and enjoying a little backyard sunbathing. Their bond is undeniable, and for Minsoo, life with Shakespeare has been transformative: “Shakespeare makes me a whole person.”
