Our mission to RESCUE, NURTURE, ADOPT, EDUCATE, is being accomplished through the operation of a no-kill rescue and adoption center and the implementation of a series of programs to assist with the needs of homeless felines and feral cat colonies in the region.  These programs include a focus on spay and neuter to reduce cat overpopulation and the suffering that coincides.

We are currently seeking a part-time Animal Care and Adoptions Assistant for our Adirondack Region Cat Adoption Center in Glen Falls, NY, to provide the day-to-day care of the Adoption Center animals to ensure their general health and well-being.

This position is part time 24 hours/week.

Statement of Basic Function:

Assist in various areas of the adoption center, as needed. Help to provide day-to-day care of the adoption center animals and cleanliness of the facility. Address calls from the public. Assist the public in all phases of the adoptions process. Provide administrative assistance for all pre and post adoption programs and the spay/neuter voucher program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect animal cages, living spaces and litter pans.
  • Feed animals appropriately following written instructions.
  • Restock food and other supplies as needed.
  • Ensure that all animals always have fresh water
  • Observe animals for obvious signs of illness and/or discontent.
  • Report any signs of concern directly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the facility including utility rooms and bathrooms. Cleaning duties included but are not limited to sweep/vacuuming and mopping of floors, scrub and disinfect walls and floors, daily laundry.
  • Be familiar with all felines in our care including habits, behavior, and special conditions to assist in finding the right home.
  • Greet and provide excellent customer service to the public in person and on the phone.
  • Complete adoption forms, process applications and complete adoptions once approved
  • Receive and process daily revenues: adoption fees, donations, and other transactions.
  • Prepare bank deposits take to bank.
  • Maintain reception area files: adoption packets and other forms. Print copies as needed.
  • Assist with the post adoption quality control program
  • Assist with voucher program
  • Maintain proper inventory of office supplies.  Communicate order needs.
  • Provide emergency offsite assistance if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Positive and friendly attitude
  • Previous experience working hands-on with animals in a shelter environment or veterinary facility a plus.
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Willingness to maintain sanitation of animal areas.
  • Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of animals.
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, and demanding work environment.
  • Maintaining confidentiality to sensitive client information.

Salary: $17.00 per hour
