Something to Bark About
After years of watching the fur fly in the most highly anticipated battle for glory on the gridiron, the Great American Family Channel and North Shore Animal League America are changing the game. On February 12, 2023 at 10:30AM ET (encore 4PM ET), tune in to watch dogs, cats, puppies and kittens take the field in the first annual Great American Rescue Bowl.
The fate of five puppies scheduled to be euthanized in an overcrowded Texas shelter on Christmas Eve hung in the balance. Fortunately, North Shore Animal League America knows that there are no holidays for animal rescue.
News flash: January 24 is Change a Pet’s Life Day, and in my opinion, it ought to be a national holiday. I wish I had a magic wand or Aladdin’s Lamp so I could change life for every animal on the planet. But alas, I don’t, which means we all have to work hard and have great ideas to get the job done.
Join Animal League America's Volunteer, Foster Parent, National Spokesperson, and Board Member Beth Stern and our rescued and adopted dogs, cats, puppies and kittens and make 2023 the best year ever for homeless animals as they journey toward their loving futures.
Thanks to the ingenuity from our North Country Initiative Adirondack Region Cat Adoption Center (NCI), we are excited to announce a new part of the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum that will help us save more lives — the Mutt-i-grees School Cat Foster Program.
Sticking to those new year's resolutions seems to always get harder as it gets colder. Among the many health benefits of adopting a pet, walking with a canine companion can keep you both in shape through all seasons.
At North Shore Animal League America, we are specialists in healing broken hearts and spirits. For ten-year-old black Labrador Kimber and her new adopted family, finding each other made this holiday season especially joyful.
When it comes to extreme conditions - be it cold, rain, snow or storms - it’s always best to be prepared. Here are a few important things to remember that will keep your beloved pet safe and warm this season.
Winter is a difficult time of the year for Community Cats; it’s cold, food and water are scarce, and a warm, dry place to rest their weary bones can be hard to find. Providing some sort of comfort for these cats — whether it be a bowl of food, a feral house to call their own or a fresh bowl of water — will go a long way to make their life so much easier.
Happy Tails
