Get to Know Finley

Finley is an international rescue from Project Street Dog Thailand. When she first arrived as a puppy she was very frightened and unsure of her surroundings. The stress of life on the streets and the long journey to our Port Washington, NY campus was a lot for this little girl. Thanks to our Foster Program, Finley spent some time outside of the shelter where she could learn to trust at her own pace. Today, she is ready to find a home of her own. Finley would do best in an adults-only home with people who have the patience and understanding to work with Finley and earn her trust—then she will be a best friend forever. A quiet neighborhood with a fenced-in yard would be ideal, and a canine sibling to help show her the ropes. A meet and greet is recommended with the entire family so Finley can get to know everyone better before she goes home. She is very affectionate and goofy when she is comfortable with you and she even loves to dance with her favorite companions here at the shelter.  Finley is a sensitive dog who is very in tune with her human’s feelings and is just looking for someone to love.

Next Steps for Finley

We’re so glad you’re interesting in adopting a pet from North Shore Animal League America!

Your next step is to visit North Shore Animal League America’s adoption center, where an Adoption Counselor will help you determine the type of animal that will best fit your lifestyle. An important part of the adoption process is to match the lifestyle and needs of the adopter with the individual dog or cat being considered.

They will introduce you to the animals you are interested in adopting. The meet and greet will give you the opportunity to bond with your potential companion. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family-friendly areas designated for that purpose.

When you decide to adopt an animal, the counselor will walk you through the process and help you complete the application. Our adoption screening process is designed to ensure that each animal is placed in a responsible, loving home and with an adopter who is prepared to make a lifelong commitment.

Please be prepared to spend a few hours on our campus. If the screening process occasionally seems overly strict or time-consuming, understand that our first priority is to consider every animal’s needs and best interests.
