Get to Know Piper

Double Adoption with Pearl, #SPC315. Pearl and Piper’s owner made sure they’d be provided for long after they were no longer able to care for them by entering them in our Safe Haven Program. We’ve given this fabulous mother/daughter duo all the loving care they once had in their peaceful home, with an eye to their future: finding them another tranquil place to land for their retirement. Pearl can be sensitive to activity, so an adult home with no other pets but her beloved Piper will satisfy her need for serenity. Thanks to our devoted donors, each has had radiation therapy to treat their hyperthyroidism—no more meds! The ladies are sharing a diet to treat Pearl’s early chronic renal disease which can be purchased at cost through our Pet Health Centers. We want to take all obstacles away from this demure pair in hopes their heroes will discover the ease of falling in love with a very worthy pair of gentle seniors.

  • Can be both active and calm

  • Good with kids 12+

  • Needs quiet

  • Needs to be the only pet

  • Fearful pet experience

Next Steps for Piper

All adoptions are subject to approval and you must be 21 or older to adopt. We cannot guarantee the selection of adoptable animals at the time of any visit or appointment, and animals cannot be held for your visit. Our experienced Adoption Counselors will make every effort to match you with your perfect pet.

Adoption fees offset a fraction of the cost to save the animals in our care and prepare them for adoption into responsible, loving homes. This can include rescue transportation, wellness exams and vaccinations, spay/neuter, food and board, grooming and much more.

Our adoption fees are as follows:

Puppies (up to 6 months)
$375
Adult Dogs (over 6 months)
$125
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months)
$325
Kittens (up to 6 months)
$125
Double Kittens
$200
Adult Cats (over 6 months)
$75
Double Adult Cats
$100
10% Military Discount: North Shore Animal League America is proud to offer a 10% discount to all active duty military members, reserves, retirees and veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Proof of service required.

Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies. Please note that adoption fees at our mobile adoption locations may vary.

High-Quality Medical Care

For the first 15 days following your adoption, we offer low cost veterinary care with minimal co-pays for our adopted animals in our Pet Health Centers. An adoption counselor will provide any adopter with specific details on what medical services are covered. After this period, adopters can transition to our Pet Health Centers where our high-quality veterinary care continues.

Our Pet Health Centers

We offer low-cost, high-quality veterinary care to all dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens—including pets not adopted here. Our quality veterinarian team provides all the services you would expect from a private veterinary practice, and when you visit our Pet Health Centers, not only do you receive low-cost pet care, but proceeds help support our mission to save lives.

Discounted Specialty Services at The Animal Medical Center (AMC)

North Shore Animal League America has partnered with The Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York City to provide high quality specialty veterinary services for our adopters at a discounted rate. Every North Shore Animal League America adopter is issued a special tag that entitles the adopter to 20% off any specialty medical services. Simply show your tag when you check in at AMC and 20% will automatically be deducted from your final bill.

Training and Behavioral Services

Our talented group of dog trainers —and cat trainers— help adopters smoothly transition their new pet into their home. We also provide puppy training classes in our North Shore Animal League America Training Center

Pet Supply Store

We know that there are things you’ll need to bring your newly-adopted pet home and items you’ll need to continue to care for your pet. The good news is that the prices in our Pet Supply Store are often lower than some of the large, discount chain stores, and our store is staffed by knowledgeable, animal professionals who can answer all of your pet care questions. Best of all, all proceeds benefit our animal welfare programs and help us save more lives.
