Meet Donnie2025-11-20T09:01:59-04:00

In the summer of 2023, a Good Samaritan found Donnie in a neighboring backyard – he was maggot-infested and his motor coordination was obviously impaired. He was immediately admitted to our Pet Health Centers where he was treated, examined and scheduled for an MRI.

Donnie is diagnosed with multiple neurological issues stemming from excess water on the brain and underdeveloped gray matter which are causing Donnie’s abnormal balance and poor motor skills. While recuperating, he became a favorite of our medical staff – even making friends and snuggling with a Pet Health Centers canine patient named Leah! Thank you for sponsoring Donnie!

Donnie (aka Loki) rules his home like the little king he is, preferably from the comfort of the bed or a sunny perch with a perfect view for birdwatching. Whether he’s lounging regally or begging for a bite of salmon, Loki brings love and laughter to every corner of his kingdom.

July 2025

Donnie (aka Loki) is living up to his mischievous name! Whether he’s batting around a favorite toy or curling up next to his sister Lyric after a full day of play, Loki knows how to enjoy life. He’s also developed quite the taste for treats and makes sure his humans never forget mealtime.

March 2025

Donnie (aka Loki) has fully embraced life as “the little king” of his home. His chosen spot remains the family bed, where he birdwatches with regal focus. Inspired by his feline sister Lyric, Loki has added playful chasing to his daily routine. With a big appetite for salmon and an even bigger heart, Loki continues to fill his family’s days with joy.

June 2024

Donnie was visited by an angel this year in the form of a dog named Leah. Donnie spent months in our Pet Health Centers, trying to manage his neurological challenges. During that time, he bonded with Leah, who was being treated for a mysterious medical condition. Their friendship blossomed as they sought each other out for solace. Leah initially responded to treatment and found a new home – except that meant leaving her best friend behind. But their story wasn’t over. Leah’s new family – who never had a cat before, let alone one with special needs – decided they should stay together! Sadly, Leah succumbed to pancreatitis, but passed away only after Donnie was settled in. We mourn the loss of Leah but rejoice in the new life she made possible for this wonderful Sponsor Pet.
