After several weeks at our Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, the next chapter has finally begun for Asher, Lexie, and Bootsie.
While Lexie and Bootsie remained closely bonded during their stay, Asher’s personality blossomed in a different way, and he became increasingly independent. We had hoped to find a home willing to adopt all three kittens together and shared their story widely across social media, but finding the perfect family for a trio proved challenging.
In the end, however, this development led to a happy new beginning for everyone. On July 3, Lexie and Bootsie were adopted together, allowing their special bond to continue in a loving home. The following week, Asher also found a family of his own, ready to embrace his confident and independent spirit.
From their eye surgeries in March and recovery at our Pet Health Centers to finding their forever homes, these kittens have come so far. We are incredibly grateful to the supporters of our Help Me Heal Program, whose generosity made their medical care and second chance possible. Because of you, all three kittens are now where they belong—safe, loved, and home.
After spending a few weeks growing strong in one of our Foster homes, the adorable kitten trio returned for their eye surgeries in March and then spent several weeks recovering under the dedicated care of the team at our Pet Health Centers. We’re happy to report that all three kittens are thriving.
Today, Asher, Lexie, and Bootsie are now enjoying life together in the Billy Joel Room inside our Bianca’s Furry Friends Adoption Center, where their playful personalities are shining brighter than ever. We’re hoping to find a very special family willing to welcome all three kittens home together through a triple adoption.

We recently caught up with Lexi, Bootsie, and Asher after they’d spent some time settling into their new foster home. We’re happy to share that these siblings have adjusted beautifully to their new surroundings and are now safe, cozy, and surrounded by love.
Their main goal while in foster care is to grow stronger in preparation for their upcoming eye surgery. Their foster family continues to provide daily eye treatments along with plenty of TLC to help them thrive. And the bonus? They get to learn how to be kittens! With each playful pounce, their personalities are starting to shine—and these siblings can definitely keep up with the best of them.
Thanks to the support of our Help Me Heal Program, Lexi, Bootsie, and Asher will soon return to our Pet Health Centers for their surgery and, afterward, will be able to live happy, pain-free lives in loving homes of their own. Your support of this program changes lives every day.
Help This Kitten Trio See the World Without Pain
They arrived just before the year’s end; three tiny kittens rescued from the side of a road in Turks and Caicos by a Good Samaritan who knew they needed urgent help. Barely two months old, Asher, Lexi and Bootsie all shared the same heartbreaking condition. Each was missing nearly 75% of their upper eyelids, leaving their eyes dangerously exposed, painfully irritated, and at constant risk of infection.
“When we examined them on intake, we saw that all three kittens suffered from eyelid agenesis, which is a failure of the upper eyelid to form,” explained Senior Veterinarian Dr. Gerard Laheney. “Without repair, their eyelashes rub directly against the cornea. That causes chronic corneal ulcers, which are extremely painful. With surgery, however, these kittens can go on to live completely normal lives.”
Once the kittens are bigger — around six months of age — they will undergo a delicate reconstructive procedure, performed by Chief of Veterinary Staff Dr. Mark Verdino. “It’s a transposition surgery,” Dr. Laheney explained. “A small portion of the kitten’s lip is carefully grafted and formed into a new upper eyelid. If successful, it actually creates a functional eyelid that protects the eye and prevents future infections.”
Sadly for Lexi, her left eye was already too severely damaged and needs to be removed. But even with one eye, she can live a full, happy life, just like her littermates. Before any surgeries can happen, however, these kittens must grow a little older, and do so safely. “All we can do at this stage is apply medicated ointments to lubricate their eyes and reduce irritation,” said Dr. Laheney. For the next several months, foster care will be essential. A home environment allows them to grow, reduces stress, and protects them from picking up any new infections.
