North Shore Animal League America is currently seeking a full-time Junior Mechanic to work at our Port Washington, NY campus. Reporting to the Facilities Manager and Facilities Supervisor, this position will provide in house minor mechanical repairs as assigned and general building maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of Carpentry (Drywall, tape, and painting)
  • Knowledge of plumbing repairs
  • Knowledge of electrical repairs
  • Maintaining league grounds
  • Special projects when assigned
  • Painting when assigned
  • Daily inspection of league buildings
  • Purchasing supplies from local venders
  • Record vehicle mileage of all league vehicles
  • Snow removal
  • Perform minor repairs on league vehicles
  • Filter changes on HVAC units
  • Complete assigned work requests
  • Assist porters in day to day building maintenance
  • Assist Facilities Manager and/or Facilities supervisor when requested

Requirements:

  • Basic skills in carpentry, electric, plumbing and knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Building and grounds experience
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • The ability to lift cleaning materials and heavy equipment
  • The ability to use manual and power tools
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals

Salary: $18.00 – 20.00 per hour
