Global Pet Adoptathon Kicks Off with 239 Mutt-i-grees Finding Loving Homes
Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens awaited the lines of adopters for our 20-hour 2019 Global Pet Adoptathon® on May 4th and 5th. During this kick-off weekend at our Port Washington, N.Y. campus, 239 animals were adopted! Sponsored by Purina® with Supporting Sponsor, Swiffer®, adopters were treated to give-a-ways, an appearance by Mr. Met on Saturday, and live DJs were on campus for both days.
During the event this year, new adopters participated in Puppy or Dog Orientation classes given by the Pet Behavior Department. The Pet Supply Store was bustling with adopters getting needed supplies for their new best friends, and everyone enjoyed snacks from our favorite food trucks.

Adoption Events Continue All Month
Adoption events at partner shelters and rescue groups continue throughout the month of May in more than 1,000 towns and cities in all 50 states and 16 countries around the world. Last year, more than 40,000 pets found homes due to this outpouring of support for adopting shelter pets! Find a participating shelter near you and adopt your new best friend.
