Our Mission & Impact

Our Mission & Impact

1,200,000+ Animals Saved

Rescue

As a pioneer of humane relocation, NSALA has saved nearly 160,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens since 1991, when our out-of-state program began. Our Mobile Units, Rescue Teams, and shelter partners save animals from overcrowded shelters, puppy mills, natural disasters and other emergencies.

38,785 Exams Performed in 2024

Nurture

4,358 spay/neuter surgeries, 34,305 vaccines administered at our AAHA-accredited Pet Health Centers. We deliver expert medical treatment, rehabilitation and compassionate care to every animal. Our Freed Special Recovery Center treated 1,251 animals suffering from extremely dangerous conditions, totaling 17,079 days of hospitalization.

60,954 Adoptions Facilitated in 2024

Adopt

We are a world leader in setting best practices for adoption. In 2024, we facilitated tens of thousands of adoptions working with our network over 2,000 shelter partners. Our Adoption Center ensures every placement is thoughtful and lasting.

5,000 Organizations Using the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum

Educate

Approximately 5,000 schools, libraries, after-school programs, homes, and communities are now helping build resilience and compassion in the next generation. The Curriculum’s goals include promoting awareness of the desirability of shelter animals, referred to as Mutt-i-grees, and enhancing children’s resilience and social emotional competence.

Make a Difference Today

Whether you choose to sponsor a pet, launch a fundraiser, or give monthly, there are many ways your compassion can create brighter futures for vulnerable animals.
