Question
I put a deposit and paid fully $3k for a specific kitten I picked out through pictures she provided. When I went to get my kitten, she gave me a different one telling me that it looks different than when I first picked her because she was so young. I have photos proving it's not the same kitten since she posted pictures of them and I was very excited, so I saved them. Can I get the kitten I paid for? Or get my money back?

Answer
I cannot predict the outcome of any given lawsuit. However, consider that if the kitten you paid for was not the kitten you received but has already been sold, it will likely be difficult for you to be successful in a lawsuit to get possession of that kitten. Also, if you keep the kitten who has the same monetary value as the kitten you originally chose, a lawsuit for monetary compensation will be difficult to win.
Complaints about fraud and deception can be made to the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, consumer protection organizations, and the Connecticut Attorney General’s office.
Next time, consider adopting, not shopping. There are so many wonderful kittens and cats at animal shelters and rescues in need of a loving home.
I hope the kitten you purchased and took home is loved and well cared for, even if the kitten is not the one you initially chose.
