Where can I find a pro bono lawyer to help me retrieve my dogs when they were taken September 2024, and I couldn't figure out what wrong animal control did until April 21st 2025. I need a lawyer to help me with this. What are my options?

Consider that if animal control took the dogs a year ago, it is very possible that they no longer have the dogs to return. In any event, rights to the dogs would be dependent on the facts and circumstances, such as whether the dogs were lost, seized for alleged cruelty or for biting, etc. and whether animal control followed applicable laws (and the laws differ depending on why the dogs were taken in the first place). A lawsuit for monetary damages can also be brought. Again, success would be dependent on the facts and circumstances.
State and local bar associations typically have attorney referral services, but this is generally for paying clients. Bar associations often have an animal law committee. Perhaps an attorney on the committee would be willing to provide guidance. Local humane societies may offer additional information.
