Texas Rescues Arrive Safely at Our No-Kill Campus

Recently North Shore Animal League America welcomed 36 dogs and puppies from Texas as part of our emergency response to the region’s devastating floods. Our Rescue Team met the transport in Virginia and brought the animals via our Mobile Rescue Unit safely to our main campus. Now they are soaking up care and cuddles while awaiting their new homes.

This lifesaving transport was made possible through our partnership with Rescue the Animals, SPCA in Abilene, TX. The dogs we took in included a wide range of breeds, including beagles and poodles abandoned by backyard breeders, and Aspen, the gentle Aussie mother of 10 pups all rescued from a hoarding situation.

Bringing in these animals who were already in shelters throughout the region means that we helped open up critically needed space. These facilities can now better assist families who may have been separated from their pets and continue rescuing animals displaced by the flooding. In addition to the transport, we sent much needed supplies to the organizations in need, to help ease their burden during this difficult time.

We are proud to stand with our shelter partners not only during the height of a crisis, but throughout the long road to recovery and long after the headlines fade.
