“Bruce Wayne” aka Tantor
When Marissa and her husband visited North Shore Animal League America in search of a companion for their resident dog, they had no idea their hearts would be stolen by a gentle, resilient soul with patchy fur. “We had met with two dogs and brought our pup back to see who he bonded with,” Marissa shared. “He seemed content to coexist with both, but when the kennel associate mentioned that Tantor might have a harder time finding an adopter because of his health issues, we knew he needed to come home with us.”

Now named Bruce Wayne, this sweet senior is thriving in his new life. He’s affectionate, loves to snuggle like the lap dog he considers himself to be, and has made it his mission to take over every small dog bed in the house. Though he’s still a bit itchy, Marissa and her husband are committed to continuing the medical care he started at our Pet Health Centers to ensure his comfort and healing.
“Bodhi” aka
Cream Soda
Once a critically injured stray on the streets of Queens, Cream Soda arrived at North Shore Animal League America with a devastating wound to his front leg. Through months of specialized care and patience, our veterinary team saved both his life and his leg. Today the resilient kitten has a new name, Bodhi, and a family who adores him.

Bodhi’s new mom Maddie recalled their first encounter: “I saw him online, saw his story, and knew I had to meet him. As soon as we walked into his room at BFF, he came right to me, booped my face and jumped on my shoulder to make biscuits. I knew it was game over.” Bodhi has wasted no time settling in. His current mission is winning over his feline siblings, also Animal League America alums. In between charm offensives, Bodhi enjoys watching ‘cat tv,’ playing fetch, and exploring every corner of his new space. “We love how cuddly and affectionate he is,” said Maddie. “Given what he went through, his curiosity and friendliness toward everyone is remarkable.
