Some years ago we had a local boy scout troop ask to visit our shelter as part of a project they were working on for earning scout badges. They came and were given a tour and learned about what makes our little shelter run. A week later they returned with supplies they had collected. They brought everything from newspapers to line cages, to litter for our cats, and even handmade toys.
A month later we were hit by a bad storm. After the dust settled the scouts returned with more supplies and more hands to help with our clean-up. Since then, several times a year the scouts will reach out to find out what we need and have always come through.
