With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert coming to a close this month, we’re reflecting on one of its most joyful legacies: Rescue Dog Rescue. For ten incredible years, this segment brought laughter, heart, and—most importantly—life-changing visibility for rescue animals in need of homes. When the Late Show team reached out about creating a wrap-up video featuring some of the dogs who had appeared on RESCUE DOG RESCUE over the years, most originally featured as just puppies, we were excited to be part of this "Where Are They Now?" tribute to bid farewell to this popular segment.

This fall, North Shore Animal League America welcomed a very special guest back to our Port Washington campus: The Dogist himself, Elias Weiss Friedman. With more than 11 million followers across his many social media platforms — Friedman has become one of the most influential dog photographers and storytellers in the world. He is also a bestselling author whose books have helped propel a global movement celebrating the beauty and individuality of dogs. We are incredibly fortunate to have his ongoing support and his passion for elevating the stories of rescue pets.

Like her millions of fans across the country, we at North Shore Animal League America are holding Rachael Ray and her husband, John Cusimano, close to our hearts as they mourn the death of their cherished Pit Bull, Isaboo, who died on May 20, 2020.

On the evening of October 30th, North Shore Animal League America hosted a special celebration for the completion of the Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, our new cage-free facility for kittens and cats. Beth and Howard Stern, Billy Joel, and Rachael Ray were among the many honored guests in attendance to see this new addition to our shelter that was years in the making.

Joshua Radin, singer-songwriter, animal lover, and North Shore Animal League America supporter, will be generously donating 100% of his proceeds from downloads and streams of his new song "Here, Right Now" to support North Shore Animal League America and our no-kill mission. In addition, all proceeds from his special "Here, Right Now" bracelets will also be donated to help the animals in our care.
