The unwavering commitment of North Shore Animal League America to save every life knows no bounds. This was never more true than for Quartz, who at just weeks old needed all of our resources to survive. Warning, some images may be heartbreaking.
At a staff celebration in honor of our seventh year of American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation, Animal League America’s Senior Vice President & Chief of Veterinary Staff Dr. Mark Verdino emphasized that this recognition validates our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of medical care to all our patients.
The Comfort Pet Hospice Care Program at Animal League America provides the opportunity to foster animals who are approaching the end of their life, and offer them a home and love. Opening your heart to these dogs and cats is a profoundly meaningful and compassionate act; you give them the chance to experience comfort, security and affection in their remaining days.

Though Karrie Jerry has never set foot on the campus of North Shore Animal League America, the organization has a special place in her heart. A Howard Stern fan from her college days at Boston University, Karrie first heard about Beth Stern’s Instagram on his radio show and was immediately captivated. “I grew up around pets that we either inherited from friends or that we adopted,” Karrie said. “So, I’ve always been interested in rescue, but Beth inspired me to pay more attention to issues around homeless animals and fostering, and to be more mindful.”
It’s easy to forget that in some corners of the world, dogs are considered pests to be exterminated, or, horrifically, sold as food at meat markets. Five years ago, as part of our rescue efforts to save street dogs in Thailand, Max made the long journey from Phuket to our Port Washington, NY campus.
Our supporters turned out in force to kick off our 2023 Giving Day in style! More than a hundred supporters gathered in the High Line Room of The Standard Hotel – located in the heart of the Meatpacking District in NYC – on June 9 to celebrate North Shore Animal League America and raise funds for our lifesaving mission.
We're getting ready for our 7th annual Walk & Wag, to bring the animal loving community together nationwide to fundraise for homeless animals in need. This year we're doing the Walk & Wag 30-Mile Facebook Challenge from September 1 to 30, 2023. Are you up for the challenge?
From early childhood days spent snuggling with her beloved stuffed animals, Alana knew one day she would spend her time around real ones as much as possible. When she was old enough to volunteer, choosing where to donate her time was easy. Alana was drawn to North Shore Animal League America because of our world-renowned reputation and no-kill mission, and she signed up to join the VolunTEEN program.
