Animal League America is incredibly fortunate to have dedicated supporters who are passionate about animals, and who are drawn to us because of our no-kill mission. Clare Kaberle has been a friend to animals for many years, and recently shared with us the motivation behind her commitment. “I believe it’s our duty to help because they can’t help themselves,” Clare said. “I wish everyone felt that way. Animals bring so much joy to us, how can you not want to do whatever you can to save them?”
As Kentucky and the surrounding areas deal with the aftermath of the recent tornados that hit the region, our Emergency Rescue Team is reaching out to our local partner shelters affected by the storm. We are prepared to help in any way we can, including rescuing and taking in animals that found themselves displaced from their loved ones. Below is a listing of shelters that can use your support. As the last month of the year, December is a very evocative period, calling up memories at the same time it asks us to think about the future. And with Covid marring yet another holiday season, our memories and hopes are more important than ever.
A victim of animal cruelty, resilient Clarence is giving us all the gift of hope. It is heart-wrenching to consider the circumstances that brought this scrappy, young Terrier into our hands at Animal League America, but thanks to a collaborative rescue effort his future is changed forever.
Winter is a difficult time of the year for Community Cats; it’s cold, food and water are scarce, and a warm, dry place to rest their weary bones can be hard to find. Providing some sort of comfort for these cats — whether it be a bowl of food, a feral house to call their own or a fresh bowl of water — will go a long way to make their life so much easier.
Finally safe and sound, a striking array of dogs and puppies descended the steps of the Animal League America Mobile Rescue Unit on Sunday, November 14, 2021, into the welcoming arms of our volunteers. In all, 48 incredible animals – no longer unwanted – arrived to have their lives transformed.

Fall is definitely the season for introspection, and introspection often leads to giving thanks, especially in times like these.
When Instagram went down earlier this month — at the same time that Facebook was undergoing intense public scrutiny — people around the world felt the impact. Many pointed out the serious problems with social media, and I agree — there are many. But like everything we humans invent, social media can be used for both good and ill. And when it comes to animal rescue, the positive far outweighs the negative.
