Broken and Alone in the Adirondacks

An urgent call came in about a young kitten found in a backyard in the Adirondacks that couldn’t walk at all. The staff at the Adirondack Cat Rescue and Adoption Center, part of our North Country Initiative in Glens Falls, N.Y. went immediately to pick her up.

Hurricane Dorian Rescue Efforts

Our Rescue Team arrived back at our Port Washington, NY, campus with more than 50 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that were saved from the path of Hurricane Dorian and possible euthanasia. Staff and volunteers waited to comfort them and offer food, water, bedding and quiet places where they could rest after their long journey.

Collaborative Rescue Saves 42 Dogs & Puppies

North Shore Animal League America partnered again with the Georgia Coalition and rescued 42 puppies and dogs just in the nick of time from five overcrowded, rural shelters, where they faced euthanasia. This rescue transport was also welcomed home at our Port Washington, NY campus by volunteers from our corporate partner The New York Mets.

Rescue Ramps Up in June

Our Rescue Team here at North Shore Animal League America got off to a very busy start this month with 100 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens arriving safely at our Port Washington, NY campus. Including a special air rescue facilitated by the Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team and their new airvan donated by The Rachael Ray Foundation.

Pacquito: Purring Through the Pain

Pacquito’s coat was dirty and disheveled.  He’d been surviving for a year on the streets with a little help from the kind people in his Brooklyn neighborhood who were providing him with food. But now he was suffering — a victim of an unknown trauma.

Mobile Rescue Team Arrives Safely with 61 Puppy Mill Survivors

North Shore Animal League America’s Mobile Rescue Team huddled through tornado alerts with blaring sirens and then faced snow and below-freezing temperatures during their seven-state trip to rescue mill dogs and puppies in a collaborative effort with our partner, National Mill Dog Rescue.

From Injured and Alone to a Happy Home

Cranberry has been loving life in her new home. So much so, her new family have renamed her “Freyja” after the goddess of love in Norse mythology. “She is doing really well! Mobile Rescue Team Brings 43 Dogs and Puppies to Safety

At North Shore Animal League America, our no-kill mission knows no season. Rather, it is a year-round commitment to every dog, cat, puppy and kitten in need. As temperatures were dropping our Rescue Team met up in Missouri with our partners at National Mill Dog Rescue to help bring 43 dogs and puppies, who were rescued from the horrors and inhumane conditions of commercial breeding facilities, to the love and safety of our Port Washington, NY campus.
